Center for Materials Research

Center Director

Dr. Kelvin Lynn was hired as the Center Director in 1996. Previously he had been a Brookhaven physicist for 23 years and had become world-renowned for his research in positron annihilation. At WSU, Lynn continues to build materials research capability into a truly interdisciplinary effort.

Dr. Lynn  is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Physical Society. He is a member of the Washington State Academy of Sciences, Boeing chair of advanced materials, and George and Diane Conniff distinguished professor.

In March, 2014, Lynn was promoted to Regents professor. This promotion honors the highest level of international distinction in the discipline that raises university standards through teaching, scholarship and public service.
